Get to know Tundra — fierce cold-climate haskap that combines firmness, flavour, and performance. If you want fruit that holds well and bushes that stay strong, Tundra delivers.
Quick highlights:
• Hardiness: Very cold-tolerant — made for tough winters.
• Productivity: Medium-high yields early in the season.
• Berry size: Medium fruit with excellent retention.
• Firmness: Very firm fruit — resists softening and handles well.
From USask (University of Saskatchewan) breeding, Tundra is built for durability. Its berries don’t ‘bleed’ from the stem end, and the firm texture makes it friendly for fresh eating, freezing or processing. A favourite among growers in northern and challenging climates.
Pollination Partners:
Honey Bee is Tundra's top pollination partner, syncing up well at bloom time for strong fruit set. Blue Bell and Berry Blue provide a decent secondary option. Boreal Blizzard is borderline workable. Most other varieties — including Borealis, Aurora, Boreal Beauty, and the Indigo Series — are poor to incompatible choices for Tundra.
